This is a selection of photographs taken from a series produced in Manchester, England, between 1968 and 1996.
The images show some 'ordinary' urban scenes, with emphasis placed upon the light and shadows which combine to produce a unique and compelling melancholia in the urban landscape.
This melancholic light is, however, suffused with an intangible and uplifting magic.
The images are presented in a choice from two gallery types : a) simple, continuous images and b) as a lightbox 'slideshow'.
